Decker Energy
International (DEI) was founded in 1982 to enter the
newly-created independent power business, as federal legislation began
to open up the electric power industry to competition. Our
business objective is to develop, acquire and own energy generating
facilities that meet the needs of the modern electrical market by
providing reliable, low-cost power with a keen sensitivity to the
environment. Decker Energy International, Inc. is a
privately-held Florida corporation, which is headquartered in Winter
Park, Florida.
Experienced. Decker Energy
was
originally created to
take advantage of the broad energy experience that several of our
people had
with Dow Chemical, a recognized innovator in the energy field and the
largest
industrial power generator in the United States. In the 27 years
of
our existence we have developed and own a number of innovative,
award-winning
power generating facilities across the United States. We are
actively
seeking opportunities to develop new greenfield projects and to acquire
existing
ones, especially troubled projects which we can turn around.
Knowledgeable.
Decker Energy has broad knowledge in all
aspects of large, complex energy projects, such as contracting for
power and steam sales, fuel procurement and transportation, site
selection and local approvals, environmental permitting, engineering,
procurement and construction contracts, plant operation and
maintenance, project financing, and ownership. As
one of the pioneers in the independent power industry, we have the
experience and entrepreneurial skills to identify attractive
opportunities and to turn them into a reality.
Project
Development. We
have successfully taken a number of unique power generating facilities
from an initial concept to operating plants producing clean, economical
electricity. These projects are diverse in many ways: geographic
location - located in several states across the U.S.; fuel type -
natural gas, waste wood, tire derived fuel, and landfill gas;
technology - combustion turbines (both simple cycle and combined
cycle), steam turbines, and state-of-the-art environmental controls.
Project
Restructuring. We have also
acquired troubled
projects and turned them around into reliable, profitable facilities by
restructuring contracts, refinancing, amending power sales agreements
in a mutually-beneficial manner, obtaining new or more economical fuel
supplies, investing in capital improvements, and improving operations
through professional management and a bottom line orientation.
Strategic Alliances. Decker Energy
provides a full
range
of power project services through relationships and strategic alliances
built over the years with other leading companies in the power
industry.
We have partnering relationships with blue chip companies, such as
Wheelabrator Technologies, CMS Enterprises, NRG Energy, Dynegy and FPL
Energy. Our
projects utilize reliable, proven technology from leading vendors, such
as
General Electric, ABB, Siemens-Westinghouse, Mitsubishi and
others.
We are, however,
not bound to any one supplier, so we are free to choose the best
equipment
for a particular application. For specific technical expertise we work
with
a variety of leading consulting firms, including Black & Veatch, R.
W. Beck, Earth Tech, Golder Associates, and others. Project
financing has
been arranged or provided by leading institutions, including Goldman,
Sachs
& Co., GE Capital, State Street Bank, and Barclays Bank.
These
valuable
relationships help ensure that we can develop the most reliable,
cost-effective
energy systems for our customers.
